Monday Morning, Oilers at home.

So apparently there were a few hockey games going on, on Saturday. Just kidding. So a crazy day of 30 games and 15 teams with a feel-good Sunday morning. The Oilers were not one of those 15 teams sadly. A loss in Vancouver of 6-3 doesn't sit too well at all actually, especially when the big reason for the "nucks" win was the fact that the Oilers just could not handle the checking line of Burrows, Kesler, and Hannsen. Yes it is probably the biggest "pest" line and i hate every single part of it as if it were Ryan Hollweg, Jarkko Ruttu and Matt Cooke all playing together on one line (too think that two of those guys actually did play together in Vancouver once). However they were definitely the reason the Oilers lost and the Cunucks won. Another poignant question would be, why didn't Erik Cole do up his jersey tie? What exactly was he thinking, knowing that he hadn't done it up, getting into the fight with Mattias Ohlund? Anyways, the Oilers face Milan Lucic and the Boston Bruins tonight and better be ready to play because if you haven't noticed, the Bruins have been playing quite well as of late. Ales Hemsky and Robert Nilsson should be playing together again as they played quite well together last game. Sam Gagner got his first point of the season against the Cunucks so one can hope it was the spark that starts the fire. If the Oilers could have a few guys i.e. Sam Gagner, Andrew Cogliano, Shawn Horcoff, Ales Hemsky, Robert Nilsson, begin to roll together, then maybe the wins would being to pile up. Fpr now a win against the Bruins tonight would be nice.

Early Saturday Morning

Good morning, i don't even know why i am up this early, it sucks. Anyways, so today is hockey frenzy day, with all 3o teams in action. Hallelujah. The Oilers are on the road still facing the Cunucks in Vancouver, the first meeting of these two teams this season. Should be a very interesting game considering the Oilers are on a 2 game losing skid, and the Cunucks on a skid of their own losing their last three games. Who will find a way to win? Is this a matchup that could eventually turn into a battle later on in the season for the division? Or are these just two mediocre teams battling it out so at least one gets a win? All i know is, is that the Mac T blender is out again and we have some different lines for tonights matchup. Bobby Nilsson will get a big chance on the first line, and the second line is something ive felt has been a long time coming with big Dustin Penner drawing up beside Cogliano and Gagner. With Pouliot centering the third line alongside Cole and Moreau. Fernando will be missed in this game purely for the grit he brings to the team. We may see some fireworks coming from the fourth line with both Stortini and Macintyre patrolling the pond. Could turn out to be quite the war with the Oilers, Cunucks games always being heated already. Here is hoping the Oilers can turn their fortunes around here and get back into the win column and close the skid at two games. I feel Hemsky is due for a big night and would watch he and Erik Cole closely, as they both havent really been performing to their abilities as of yet. Cole will be back on his natural rightwing side to boot. Anyways, Go Oilers Go.

Pretty poor effort last night from the boys in blue, They seemed ill-motivated and like they didnt really care about the outcome of that game. Sad to see when they are playing the team that they could very well be competing for a playoff spot with by seasons end. However the game is behind everyone and we move on to tonights game against the Avalanche. I feel that this game is going to show the Oilers true colors for how this year may go. Its the second game of a double header in which they lost the first game to the Hawks. So to bounceback and have an enormous game would show that this team really is ready to take some major steps and to challenge for the division. However if they fail to do this and to allow for another stinker of a game tonight, well then alot of the doubters will finally have their fodder as the Oilers will quickly become 4-2. Im a believer and i do expect them to come out tonight flying all over the Av's. I expect them to pelt whomever is tending net for the avalanche tonight weather it be raycrof or budaj, as the two have a combined save percentage of .885. So one can hope that they take their destiny in their own hands and play a really good game and hopefully gain the 5-1. Guess we will see who shows up tonight, exciting either way. Go Oilers.

Oh and P.S. Guess the writing is on the wall for Roloson, didnt look like the team wanted to play in front of him.

Oilers show Guts

What a gutsy win tonight by the Edmonton Oilers to bring themselves to 4-0. They played probably their worst first period so far in the season, and then bounced back heroicly in the second period to win the game. I have to personally say that after the first period i thought it was over already, i hoped that what happened in the second period would happen but never thought it would. The Oilers of the last 5 years would have most likely collapsed and accepted the loss. However something just seems to be completely different this year with this group of players. Seeing Ethan Moreau score that first goal in the comeback, was like watching Mel Gibson charge into battle as Braveheart. It just gets the Oiler fan beyond excited. As was watching Andrew Cogliano burn around adrian aucoin and wire the puck into the top right hand corner of the net. It seemed like it was destiny tonight for the Oilers to win. I have never been more excited as an Oiler fan since we went to the cup final a few years back.

Yes it is still early in the season but somewhow i feel like this year is the year of the Oilers. They seem destined to be up there in the league with teams like dallas and san jose this year. As the Montreal Canadiens showed last year, a young lineup with lots of speed and heart can play with the best. That is this years Oilers. I guess all we can do now is watch them regain the greatness of the oilers past.

The Very First Blog

This is the very first blog in what i hope to be many, many more. So maybe just to talk about some pretty general things, the Edmonton Oilers are 3-0, ya what up?! Souray will miss tomorrow's (saturdays) game most likely with what sounds like a charlie horse, according to Dan Tencer. However that is all good, seeing as how well "LUBO" is playing these last few games. Kinda seems like Kevin Lowe really did trade in his trash (sorry stolly, and greener) for some gold. This guy has some kind of wicked point shot, and as much as everyone said that souray would improve our powerplay, i think we found the real answer to our powerplay woes. The kids seem to be doing fine as well, Gagner is pointless yet but he will get going, meanwhile Cog's and "bobby" nilsson are playing where they left off last season. The rest of the team seems right in stride an it seems the Oilers are actually poised to challenge for the division lead, pending no major injuries of course.

Now anyone who has doubted our goaltending, i.e. Mathieu Garon, should be put to shame by his performances so far, the guy hasnt skipped a beat and seems like he IS the starting goalie the Oilers need. Anyways i guess all that is left to say is GO OILERS GO!!!! and we should be 4-0 by Sunday morning.
