So, since Sporer didn't understand the forwards break down, I thought I would simplify it for him. In order to determine the most EFFECTIVE (again, not necessarily the best) six Dmen, I took a look at the obvious goals, assists, points columns, but also at the number of blocked shots and hits stats too. It's those key shot blocks or momentum changing hits that can take your team out of a rut and lead them to victory; however, I don't think they are as valuable as points, so, lets add up ¼ of the shot blocks and ¼ of the hits with the points and see which bunch is leading the league in efficenty... (category leaders are in bold)

Interesting isn't it? Anaheim near the bottom with Carolina near the top, and notice NJD near the bottom, certainly a changed group from the Nidermayer, Stevens, Rafalski days. To me, the biggest surprise might just be the Penguins, missing Gonchar and Whitney, are sittind 3rd. It just goes to show that, doing the little things often and repeatedly will breathe success into your lineup. Again, take what you will from it, just throwing some stats together to get an idea of who is really a contender and who might just be a pretender...

Smith.
