So im gonna go just a little off topic today with my blog. First off i would like to say if you have never watched a sports movie of any kind, you are losing out. Some of the most emotional and riveting stories come from the world of sports. I decided the other day to finally rent a movie i had been longing to see for some time. That movie is THE NATURAL, with Robert Redford. Its baseball story about a farmboy who makes it to the major leagues only to have a rather unfortunate event happen to him (ill save you the details as i dont wanna ruin it). Then 16 years later he reappears in the big league's 0f baseball once again. This time he is back with a vengeance and takes a loser team (the New York Knights, instead of the Yankee's) all the way to the pennant. Its a mystical story and more or less defines the majesticness of baseball, and defines it as America's sport. If you have not seen this movie, it is definitley a must-rent. Even if you arent a huge baseball fan this story will move you and kinda send those shivers up your back. Robert Redford is well the usual amazing actor he is, and co-stars include, Glenn Close, Kim Bassinger, and Robert Duvall. All in all definitely up there with the best sports movies of all time, along with other greats which i definitley recmoned, such as, Mystery Alaska, Remember the Titans, Happy Gilmore, and of course, The Mighty Ducks, oh and The Hoosiers, if your a basketball fan.
To tonight now, the Oilers are in Columbus for the first time this season, looking for a big win that would set them up fairly well for the rest of the road trip. The Blue Jackets have been their normal selves, not really doing a whole lot to get excited about. So the Oilers will be looking for Ales Hemsky to continue the great play from sunday and maybe have sommore majic tonight. Another player id watch out for, to have a big night, is Sam Gagner. The kid hasnt done much, but last game showed some flashes of the number 6 pick he is. Add in the fact the Oilers faceoff against a slow starting Pascal Leclaire and the Blue Jackets, could be a good night for the likes of Hemsky and Gagner. Anyways thats all.
Peace
