Solution to the Problem

So as the last two blogs have been pointing out, it is hard to compare players whose careers have had varying lengths and yet similiar numbers. So i have one last solution to this problem. As my friend Smith pointed out, Larry Murphy does have more points than Bobby Orr, anyone in their right mind knows Bobby Orr was probably the best defensman (besides Paul Coffey of course) ever to grace NHL ice. However, if Larry Murphy has more points is he better? The answer to all of this is purely to compare the players in the minimum years. So Bobby Orr played about 10 full seasons in the NHL, so then we would take Larry Murphy's ten best years, and compare those two, to find out who truly is the better of the two, same goes for Gretzky and Bossy. Thus Gretzky beats out Bossy rather handily as the NHL's most prolific scorer with a goals per game average of .810, and Bobby Orr destroy's Larry Murphy with a PPG average of 1.39, and Murphy with .740. I dont know what anyone else thinks but i figure this is the best way to settle the issue.

I think this may sit a little better with everyone, it seems to answer the problem. Going into Saturday night in the NHL (the best night in hockey) id like to make my predictions for the nights games, we can see how i did tomorrow.

Ill take the Sabres!
