Has anyone seen Jonathan Toews lately? Well if you haven't noticed him, he has been doing a whole lot of nothing in windy city these days. He has not scored a single goal so far this season, he does have 7 assists, however he is a -1. Anyone think maybe Chicago screwed up and put the "C" on his jersey little too soon? Id love to see the guy prove me wrong as I'm a pretty big fan myself, but what can i say? The guy has done practically nothing! Even Patrick Kane, who seemed distraught after the firing of Denis Savard, has sucked it up and is still putting up the points and scoring goals. Kane is only one point back of Patrick Sharp, who has had a fiery start to the season. Many Hawks fans aren't too worried because it isn't like he is playing bad, however being a -1 doesn't stick out too well when you haven't scored a goal yet. I'm not questioning how good Toews is, but more, what is wrong with the guy? Having picked him 21st overall in my hockey draft, i thought i was getting a "money in the bank" kind of player, but i have been greatly disappointed.

Another young captain in the NHL is living up to his "C" and helping his team win some games recently. Oh and he has no problem putting up points. Tied for the lead in points on his team, Mike Richards of the Philadelphia Flyers is playing right where he should be. Picking him 37Th overall, all i could keep thinking of is how great a plus minus player he is, how he plays the point on the Flyers number one power play unit, and i have yet to be disappointed. Watching the Flyers Oilers game on Sunday afternoon, i realized that this guy is a great leader (aside from Jeff Carter's great game), Richards didn't even put up a point in the game, yet he seemed to be a driving force for his time. Making big hits in the corners and creating chances, i realized quite quickly just why Richards is the Flyers captain.
One last thing, apparently, the Canadian Olympic men's hockey team, has been informed, that it can no longer use the Hockey Canada logo. According to TSN.ca, the IOC (international Olympic committee, has told Hockey Canada that they cannot use the logo that they have been using the past three winter games, because they will no longer allow "logo's" on any teams jersey's. It seems that the COC (Canadian Olympic Committee) was warned two years before that the IOC would start enforcing the rule that national sport federation logos on team uniforms would not be allowed. Too bad, really liked that symbol. Oh well, guess its time to come up with just another sweet way of putting red, white, a maple leaf, and hockey together on a jersey. Anyways that's it for Tuesday morning.
Peace
